at the close of a very boring work day
I have this unfortunate habit of avoiding my journal when I have unfinished fic prompts to write. Especially really good ones that I plan to finish this lovely holiday weekend. This post is me NOT doing that again.

So I'm doing yoga now. Correction, I'm doing a few yoga poses in the morning and wishing I could afford to take an actual class. I'm liking it so far. I've also started cooking again, for real this time, and slowly discovering how relaxing it can be after a long day at work.

I'm guess I'm kinda in a self-improvement stage that I hope will finally take this time. :/

boop. drive by comment. i feel you on the self improvement kick, i was on it before i started my new gig but then my life sort of started revolving around that, i still hope to get back. i want to do tai chi and archery and cooking will come eventually but i'll have to start out real basic with that. i burn toast.

I'd say a new job is a more than valid excuse for putting those things off, I hope it's going well so far. And I love the idea of learning archery, you HAVE to write about that if and when you finally get there. :)

Cooking isn't that hard though, trust me. The hardest part is not leaving the kitchen to check your email (which I do. All the time.)

Oh my goodness yes oh yes to the yoga and cooking!

I am really getting into making Mexican food. I made tostadas and guacamole. Next I want to try this green tomato salsa. I love fresh food!

Yoga I have been taking some classes. I found a little yoga book in my mom's room and did some meditating. :D

I loooove Mexican food, so pass on any cool recipes you find, okay? I've been trying out Asian noodles lately, they're fast and easy, and tasty when you do it right. :)

I really feel like I need a yoga class to really get into, but I'm already seeing a difference with just a few poses every day. :)

while i can wait infinitely for my prompt to be filled, i'm happy to hear you're still working on them :)

gl with the yoga! i did bikram for while, but it just didn't agree with me. i found myself focusing way too much on how inflexible i am rather than being able to block everything out. i do want to try pilates, though. and i've been wanting to try spinning forever.

i think i only enjoy cooking for others. the whole cooking for a party of 1 thing is just not something i can discipline myself to do on a regular basis. thank goodness ny has amazing food in vast quantities, or else i would starve.

Your prompt is one of my favorites, I'm hoping to get to it by Monday. :D

I don't feel like I'm actually doing yoga yet, just a few things to make me no so embarrased about find a cheap class somewhere. Pilates scares me a bit, it seems so intense. But the results I've seen on other people are amazing, I'd be really interested to hear about your experiance if and when you try it.

I was in NY recently, and I feel you about the great food there. I'm not sure I'd cook at all in your shoes tbh.

gotta start somewhere. it's great that you're at least stretching every day (read your other comments). i should be doing that. i'm not an exerciser at all, so the extreme/intense stuff always appeals to me, lol. it takes something crazy and/or exhausting for me to actively go to a place and build up a sweat.

yeeeaaaah, i pretty much don't. lol. part of the reason i'm perpetually broke!

You're making a good start with the self-improvement, sweetheart. A little yoga is a good way to start your day. :)

:D Thanks! It does make getting through a workday a lot easier and my body likes it afterwards, though it can be difficult during sometimes. :/

ooh, good luck with the yoga! I've never tried it, don't think I'm flexible enough.

We can endeavor to keep each other posting here. ;)

I'm not flexible AT ALL, I never have been. But I'm a little more optimistic about changing that now that I can finally touch my toes. :P

I'm thinking at least two posts a month would be good, right? Maybe?

I'm with you on the cooking, but I'm still trying to get motivated on the yoga front. ;) Have you taken classes in the past, so you just know the moves, or are you working from a book or something?
tokenblkgirltokenblkgirl on September 8th, 2011 01:11 pm (UTC)
I haven't taken any classes yet ( money issues) but I think I'm gonna hunt down a free trial or a few discounted lessons that might help with my form. Right now it's just a few poses from books and the internet, but I don't wanna get into anything more complicated without professional help. :)
